Michael is licensed in New York and Florida (telehealth) and works with individuals, families, and couples. Michael earned his Master of Social Work at Hunter College before beginning his career in the field of addiction and severe mental illness. Since then, he has gone on to specialize in psycho-oncology, grief, life transitions, couples counseling, anxiety, and depression. Michael works at depth, utilizing an integrative clinical style which incorporates Psychodynamic Psychotherapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In this way he assists his clients in achieving both symptom relief and deeper self-knowledge and understanding. Michael is available for more intensive multiple sessions-per-week treatment.

Michael is a trauma-informed and queer-allied clinician. Rooted in his passion for social justice, Michael understands that our suffering can find its roots in both the personal and the political. He understands that we sometimes need help with long-standing issues, and that sometimes we seek help because we don’t know where else to turn. Drawing on his wide breadth of experience, Michael tailors each therapy to the individual and to the moment, working with his clients to identify their goals, and to achieve a rich life lived in alignment with their values.

“Therapy is a bit like sailing across the ocean: while we chart a course together, we don’t know what the ocean will ask of us along the way.”
