IMPACT GROUP

What Is the POC Adult Children of Immigrant Families Group?

As people of color who are also adult children of immigrant families, we often navigate a complex set of racial, political, and familial dynamics.

The pull between honoring different cultural values and family expectations while also forging an independent path can feel isolating, confusing, and emotionally exhausting. Many of us carry questions we rarely have space to explore openly: How do I break unhelpful cycles while still carrying on my cultural strengths? Where do I belong when I don't feel fully at home in any one place?

This group therapy experience is designed specifically for POC adults who grew up in or between immigrant cultures. In a supportive and confidential virtual setting, members come together to share openly about the unique experiences of growing up between worlds. Through honest conversation and shared reflection, the group creates a rare space where your full, multi-layered experience is not only understood but deeply valued.

KEY BENEFITS

Who Can Benefit From This Group?

This group is for adults 18 and older who identify as people of color and who either immigrated to the U.S. before age 25 or were born here to immigrant families.

OUR APPROACH

At IMPACT, we believe in the transformative power of shared experience.

This group is grounded in the understanding that healing and growth happen through authentic connection with others who understand your lived experience.

Our therapy groups offer a unique opportunity to feel seen, heard, and supported in ways that can be difficult to find elsewhere.

The group is facilitated by first- and second-generation Asian American women therapists who bring their own lived experience to the work. While they draw on their own backgrounds, they are committed to educating themselves across a wide range of immigrant and cultural experiences to create an affirming space for members of all backgrounds.

Our facilitators are experienced in working with diverse populations and create an environment that encourages open communication, trust, and personal growth. The group format provides an opportunity to gain insights from peers, develop new coping strategies, and receive support in a safe and confidential setting.
